- Pyrolysis
- Thermal decomposition of organic matter in the absence of oxygen.
- Carbonization
- Slow pyrolysis aimed at producing a carbon-rich solid, such as biochar.
- Gasification
- High-temperature partial oxidation that converts a carbonaceous solid into syngas.
- ELT
- End-of-life tire: one no longer fit for its original use or retreading.
- rCB
- Recovered carbon black, the carbonaceous solid from tire pyrolysis.
- TPO
- Tire pyrolysis oil.
- Syngas
- Combustible mixture of carbon monoxide, hydrogen and methane produced by gasification.
- EPR
- Extended producer responsibility: whoever places a product on the market must manage its waste.
- MRV
- Monitoring, reporting and verification: the data required to certify carbon reductions or removals.
- Co-processing
- Use of waste as alternative fuel or raw material in cement kilns.
