Biochar
Soil amendment, compost and feed additive, construction materials and certifiable carbon removal.
CAR · Technologies
Equipment for the controlled thermal transformation of biomass and suitable residues into charcoal, biochar and carbonaceous materials for industrial, energy and agricultural applications.
Operating principle
Carbonization is a slow pyrolysis aimed at the solid. Biomass is heated with limited oxygen; volatiles are released and burned in a thermal oxidation chamber that supplies the process heat. What remains is a stable carbon whose quality depends on temperature, residence time and feedstock.
| Atmosphere | Limited oxygen |
|---|---|
| Energy | Volatiles supply the heat; usable surplus |
| Operation | Continuous, screw-fed |
| Product | Biochar, charcoal and heat |
How it works
Every plant is designed around these stages. The final configuration depends on the analysis of your feedstock and the products you want to obtain.
Size reduction and drying to design moisture, using heat recovered from the process.
Continuous metered feeding to the reactor.
Adjustable temperature and residence time to set carbon content and biochar stability.
Pyrolysis gases are fully burned in an afterburner chamber; heat is recovered.
Closed-loop cooling to prevent product oxidation.
Sampling, batch records and operating data in PyroTrack, the basis for certifying carbon removal.
Feedstocks
Products
Soil amendment, compost and feed additive, construction materials and certifiable carbon removal.
Metallurgical reductant and high energy-density solid fuel.
Feedstock drying, steam or hot water for neighboring industry.
Scope of supply
Why this technology
Agro-industry turns a liability (burning, dumping, pests) into an input in demand.
Biochar is one of the durable removal pathways with active certification methodologies in voluntary markets.
The process is thermally self-sufficient at steady state and delivers surplus heat.
PyroTrack
Inputs, process conditions and products are traced for operations, regulatory reporting and certification.
FAQ
It depends on the equipment; pre-drying is generally required for stable operation. We define it during initial characterization.
Yes, if the process and feedstock meet the requirements of the chosen methodology. The design includes from the start the data logging that verification requires.
The product is similar; the use and specification differ. Biochar is applied to soils or materials and characterized for that purpose; charcoal is used as fuel or reductant.
